Traveller Horse Project

Ongoing participatory design process to develop a masterplan for the Kilkenny Traveller Horse Project on Hebron Road with the St. Mary’s traveller group and local facilitators Rosie Lynch and Hollie Kearns and with input from animal welfare experts. The Masterplan includes stables, training facilities, feed and equipment storage and paddocks which accommodate best practice animal welfare on site; Horse owners are supported to actively participate in the planning and design process, and in the personalisation and embellishment of finished facilities. Initial workshops involved the use of a ‘gameboard’ representing the site with wooden ‘game pieces’ representing the typical scaled horse-stalls in both individual and grouped typologies.
